Successful Fenland Show For Sam’s Team of Thistle Girls

On August 14, 2012

As many of you will know Sam travels regularly to Scotland to coach horses and riders.   In 2011 a group came down to the Fenland show held at Horse Creek Farm in Cambridgeshire and instantly became known as “The Thistle Girls”.  Sam has been travelling up to Scotland regularly now, and a group of the “Thistle Girls” made the long trip down to the Fens via Sam’s Nottingham base to show at the Fenland.   In 2012 Sam became known at the show as the Thistle Birthday Boy, as he’d tried to keep his birthday quiet, but show organisers found out and he was treated to a rousing (and perhaps slightly untuneful) reindition of Happy Birthday.  The Thistle Girls also presented him with a cake!

Team Thistle as they were nicknamed over the weekend were very successful, Debi Bell with KC Peppys Listo won a large Nov Am Horsemanship class, as well as placing and earning points in many other classes.  Doreen Allison and Sue Forrest, both won Grand Champion Decanters with their stallions My Moms A Colonel and Southearn Comfort, and Sam also rode both horses in Senior Trail, as well as Ranch Horse pleasure, which with the new AQHA All Around rules meant that SoCo did in fact qualify for All Around Honours, and we are waiting for confirmation from AQHA that Sam and Soco have earned their first Open All Around Trophy as well as managing to win ALL the Open Fenland NRHA Placques at the show and winning the NRHA Open Series Trophy.
